At this time we do not have a group that meets. But when we launch these groups in the near future, our New Life "D" Groups will be small groups of no more than fifteen adults who either meet in someone's home or at the church. The "D" in our groups stands for "Discipleship." The word discipleship in a Christian context simply means to teach someone how to live a godly life. In our groups leaders will disciple those in their groups and some may have another person they are discipling. Yet, all are helping each other grow in their faith in Christ through encouragement, prayer, and discussion of God's Word. There are several purposes to our groups.
- First is to develop deeper relationships Life is hard. It is good to know that you have others who are there to support you and it is good to know that you can be there for them as well.
- Second, it gives us the opportunity to grow spiritually together in our Christian lives. In a sense, we sharpen one another and hold each other accountable.
- Third, we get the awesome opportunity to serve each other and our community. Every group has something they are good at. Helping others is a way we show the love of Christ and that we care about them.
- Fourth, if you don't have a relationship with God, a New Life "D" Group is a safe place to learn more about Christ, the Bible, and how Christians walk this life together.
We are not perfect, and our groups will not be perfect. Yet, through the highs and lows, the times we get along, and the moments we get on each other's nerves, we never stop supporting and caring for one another as we learn more about how to live a life that honors the Lord. That is an authentic community. That is what our New Life "D" Groups are all about.
